Researchers at Michigan State University are keenly working on how ethanol can be derived from plant extracts. They are trying out nanotechnology in a neat trick to comprise the required enzyme for the fermentation of starch. The process involves keeping the enzymes unmoved until they are activated by high temperatures. The high temperature then sets these enzymes in motion to convert cellulous into starch.

The use of nanotechnology in the synthesis of Ethanol might significantly augment the amount of ethanol accessible as fuel.
