The air conditioners were an item of luxury a few decades back. Commonly known as AC among the general public, it is a basic necessity of every house hold these days. Technically speaking, an air conditioner is an electronic appliance that is used to bring down the temperature by dropping the humidity. The split air conditioner has a compressor installed inside the home where as the condenser is placed outside and is connected by means of refrigerant pipes. The split air conditioner makes less noise when compared to other types of air conditioners. The wall mounted split air conditioner carries a rotary compressor that forces the cold air to move into the room.
The cooling capacity of an air conditioner is determined by its tonnage. Split ACs are generally available at sizes of 0.50 ton, 0.75 ton, 1 ton, 1.5 ton and 2 tons.
BTU or British thermal unit per hour is the standard measurement unit of the cooling capacity of an air conditioner, making the strength of the AC largely depending on the cooling capacity. To install a split AC, a hole is to be made on the wall with a depth depending on the unit of the AC. In most cases, the hole will be of 3 inches in diameter.
Different big names including LG, Voltas, Whirlpool, Samsung to Cruise, bring out air conditioners of different sizes. Always make it a point to select AC of a better brand to ensure the quality and performance.
