Dell does it again! Dell launches its latest venture, barely after introducing its new Studio laptops; by launching an ultra-mobile, 9-in laptop. The Mini 9 weighs just over 1 kilo and is powered by Intel’s new Atom processor. In the words of the company’s publicity, Dell’s Inspiron Mini 9 is designed to connect “teens, tweens, travellers and social networkers” to the online world. It comes with built in WiFi capabilities and also has a 1.3 megapixel webcam and video chat software. The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 loads Windows in about 30 seconds and fires up Microsoft Works in 8 seconds. Also, it can copy more than an album’s worth of music (77MB) in about 7 seconds. The Mini 9 is on a par with its peers: It has three USB ports, a 4-in-1 media card reader (SD, MS, MS Pro, MMC), VGA-out, an Ethernet port. We give you five reasons as to why you should immediately buy Dell Inspiron Mini 9.
Size matters
Dell’s Inspiron Mini 9 manages to fit into an even slinkier little black dress. It’s 9mm slimmer in diameter.
Keyboard king
Dell’s done away with function keys, leaving everything you need for work and play on the go, without any extra bulk. Its keyboard’s minimalistic features are its best.
Dapper design
The gadget looks slick and smooth.
Ubuntu inside
Mini 9 poses a dose of Windows XP and Linux but its Ubuntu that captures the eye here. It’s fast, accessible, secure has easily changeable options and not to mention being much quicker than Vista.
Price points
Not only is the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 little on size, it’s equally meagre on cost. You could scoot off with Dell for £269 for a Linux version or £299 for an XP equipped Dell Mini 9.
Dell has once again shown that it’s the leader in the manufacturing of laptops, from its Latitude, to Inspiron to Studio series, it has now moved to Inspiron Mini 9 series. Sleek, affordable and very compatible to the needs of the youth! The combination of the Atom processor and 1GB of memory gives you enough power to do all your general and complex tasks. The Mini 9 also has the capacity to run a video conferencing. It also has a battery life of 3hours. The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 falls short because it doesn’t offer an extended battery and large-enough storage options.

Portability: The main reason for choosing a notebook (as it is widely known!) is undoubtedly its portability. Since you will be literally carrying your entire computer with you wherever you are going, check the portability of the laptop. This probably includes the weight and dimensions of the laptop. Processor: It is very important to look for the performance of the processor as it determines the speed and efficiency of a notebook. We would suggest you to purchase a laptop with 1GB of Ram and at least 80 GB on your hard drive.
Memory: Laptops with 256 MB RAM are widely used nowadays. Power users should try to get a notebook with at least 512 MB or more.
