LG, the Korean name in the electronic appliance maker has created an innovative frost-free refrigerator that uses a blower fan
To keep moisture out of the unit. It has a heating coil beneath the evaporator that periodically heats the freezer compartment melting any ice build-up. Some models also come out with heaters in the side of the door to keep the unit from “weeping.” Manual defrost refrigerators are also available in some appliance stores. Refrigerators generally consume more energy than any other home appliance. But in the last twenty years, many efforts have made to make refrigerators more energy efficient. Big manufacturers like LG have brought out models that consume less energy. , researched by manufacturers such as LG. In the early 90s, a competition in Toronto among big manufacturers to encourage energy efficiency witnessed big names including LG Appliance creating greener refrigerators. The most energy-efficient unit made in the US and Toronto is designed to run on 12 or 110 volts, and consumes about half a kilowatt-hour per day. Big appliances with large freezers and icemakers may use as much as 4 kWh per day.
Among the different styles of refrigerators available in the market, the top mount freezer models are the most effective as the cold air can be distributed through the refrigerator easy due to cold air being heavier than warmer air inside it. Energy Star appliances offered by LG and other manufacturers are the best models available in the market as they save more energy from the rest of the models.
