THE FIRST ORGANIC PANEL IN SALE: SONY XEL- 1 11- INCH OLED HDTV

THE FIRST ORGANIC PANEL IN SALE: SONY XEL- 1 11- INCH OLED HDTVA revolution in the television technology! The next big thing is in with Sony’s OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode). Recently featured at hi tech exhibition in Berlin, it was the most attractive sight and drew the best attention. Sony’s first organic panel with OLED technology is the most progressive technology for television displays so far and is bound to get bigger and better.

• It has an unbelievable 3 millimetre thin panel and offers supreme picture quality with astounding contrast, exceptional brightness, brilliant colour reproduction, and a swift response time for action movies or sports.

• It delivers amazing performance in all the key picture quality categories and wider viewing performance as compared to the existing LCDs or other displays. Organic diodes used in Sony OLED technology are semiconductors placed in microscopic caves. They produce light by making electronic holes and electrons circulate between cathode and anode. Distinctive feature here is that electronic holes are more mobile in the organic material that in inorganic one. Such a way every OLED display doesn’t require backlight and polarizer.

• The XEL-1 features the latest connectivity options including two HDMI™ inputs, a digital tuner, and a Memory Stick® media slot for viewing high-resolution photos.

• Sony XEL OLED HDTV weighs just 1.9 kg (US system) and delivers smooth, natural motion during fast action scenes.

• The new Sony XEL OLED HDTV is also eco friendly as it results in reduced power consumption of up to 40% per panel square inch compared to conventional 20-inch LCD panels as it has no backlight.

• The XEL-1 features the latest connectivity options including two HDMI™ inputs, a digital tuner, and a Memory Stick® media slot for viewing digital images. Speakers are embedded in the base, firing sound up through a mesh-aluminium sheet. Controls line the base’s top in front, including buttons to navigate menus, switch channels, and adjust volume.

• There is only one main disadvantage. Unfortunately organic material has a very short lifetime compared to an inorganic one. Organic diodes will last 14 000 working hours while LCD or LED TV displays will sustain approximately 60 000 hours. Luckily other manufacturers have come up with ideas to double organic panel’s endure ability.

OLED is the TV technology of the future, making our TV’s truly flat and you can be the proud owner of the first OLED TV for $2,500 at select Sony outlets.
